I’m Still Following and I’m Still Learning

I’ve been following Jesus for quite awhile now. I’ve preached many of sermons, taught Bible Studies, prayed with people, and encouraged many to just trust God through many issues and pains of their lives.

You would think think by know that I have this Christian life pretty well figured out. Well, guess what? I don’t.

You see, there are still days that I just get it wrong. That without any intention or planning I find myself getting in the way of this relationship with God that I find so dear. Yet, what I’ve come to understand is that God has this overwhelming willingness to be patient with a messed-up, always a mess, kind of person that I am.

And to be honest, it takes God’s patience for this relationship between Him and me to work. I’m reminded of that Scripture that says that we all have fallen short of the glory of God today. Now, I’m not making any excuses for me or for anyone who reads this. Yes, we fall short, but that doesn’t mean we should just lunge forward just because we can.

All it means is that when we run a ahead or fall back from the journey that we are a on with Christ, we have a Friend that is willing to stick with us. That is only if we want the friendship to stay.

And so, I’m reminded today to stop, close off my mind from everything, to breathe in and then out, and then take a look around at where I’m at. Notice the pace of my journey. Notice the important fact of whether I’m focused on my relationship with Christ or am I distant from Him.

And then cling to the Man who can!
