Today, as I was teaching language arts, to my sixth grade class, we came upon a very interesting discussion. What is the difference between a fact or an opinion. Granted this is that difficult of a discussion. Yet, some struggled to understand the difference. Maybe it’s because the common factor within our world is that perception, someone’s opinion, is considered by many to be factual. It’s the old, someone thinks one thing and it has to be valid. I wonder how much better it would be for our world if we could start thinking or perceiving the good in things instead of always looking for the bad. Think about, how many times do you get tripped up because you just can’t see the goodness in the situation. Last week, this thought was a part of my sermon. The problem that we miss the blessing because we are focused on the negative of the situation. Like a broken down car. We focus on it being broken down and not running now, while it has been faithful to us days if not months before. And, probably the only reason it’s in the shape that it is in might just have something to do with the wear and tear that you’ve put on it in the first place. Listen, the fact in all things is that our Creator, the only who had breathed air into our lungs, is good, gracious, and merciful. The fact is that Satan has deceived and started destroying what God has made good, even very good, with sin. The fact is that we have been made in His own image. While all the time, the opinion is it’s not our fault but someone or something else that has separated us from God.
